A thattukada is a traditional Kerala street food stall. The word comes from "thattu" (plate) and "kada" (shop). Thattukadas are an integral part of Kerala's food culture, typically operating in the evenings and serving affordable, home-style nadan food — including porotta, beef curry, fish curry, appam, puttu, and other local specialties.

Periyar Thattukada follows this tradition while offering waterfront seating on the Periyar River — a setting that is rare among thattukadas in Kerala.
